Gripfast was founded by Northamptonshire based White & Co who in the 1940's were a government contractor and manufactured footwear for the British Army. Gripfast was established in 1990 in response to increased demand for slightly more rugged, extreme, edgier footwear and were made on an army last. In 2003 they moved production to NPS shoes, where Solovair footwear is made.
